A storyteller
Katharina, daughter of a Bulgarian and an Austrian, grew up between Vienna and New York. She studied film and literature at the University of Vienna and acting under Ivana Chubbuck and at "The Groundings" in Los Angeles. She studied dramatic writing for two years at the Burgtheater, did journalistic internships at the daily newspaper "Der Standard" and at "Radio Fritz" and works as an actor and voice over artist. In 2020/21 she was awarded the "Drehbuchwerkstatt" screenwriting fellowship at the University of Film and Television in Munich and her screenplay BLAUE AUGEN was nominated for the Tankred Dorst Prize.
Katharina studied directing at the Hamburg Media School from 2022 to 2024. Her short films have been shown at dozens of festivals and she was awarded the Engelke Short Film Prize for I WAS BUSY DREAMING ABOUT BOYS. All of her work is united by a passion for storytelling. Her multicultural origins and her sense of humour flow into all her stories, as does her critical but benevolent view.
She works in German, English and French and lives in Berlin.
